Uh…what? If you’ve read the books or seen the television series, it might qualify as a parody of a right-wing fantasy, but even that’s pushing it.

I was going to say that this page kinda implied that George Martin intended Westeros as a right wing fantasy. But the article is only written with that angle for the sake of hyperbole in the form of pop-reference. Not that the article is bad. I just expected something else at first.

The article is lame clickbait. The books were inspired by the War of the Roses. England in the middle ages was, at times, not a nice place.
I’ve read the books and seen the show. First 3 books were excellent, books 4 and 5 were rather poor, who knows when books 6 and 7 will come out?
The show, IMHO, is quite good, and I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys scripted TV shows.

Leaving aside the whole ‘Right Wing Fantasy’ aspect, who in hell would WANT to live in Westeros? GoT is the ultimate cure for wanting to live in medieval times. It takes ‘nasty, brutish, and short’ to a whole new level! I suspect lots of folks who read historical fiction and fantasy think, “It would be okay to live there, if you were a lord or a king”, but in Martin’s version, NOBODY is safe. Not kings, not lords, not petty nobles, not serfs. Especially not serfs.
